ABOUT
Echo-Centric Audio (ECA) is the one-stop solution to all of your audio needs! From recording, editing and mixing, to live shows and design, there's no job out of our league.
The Company
ECA is a South-Africa based company, started by audio engineer, Tyler Low. The company was conceptualised, and started, in 2022 as a final year assignment at Abbey Road Institute Johannesburg. With the education and training from ARI, Tyler is equipped with knowledge of all cutting edge technology and techniques used in the industry today.

As a company, ECA strives to deliver the best possible quality service to any client, in whatever field they require assistance. While currently a small business, Tyler has plans to expand to a large studio space, and to have the ability to provide services all across the country, and even the world.
With such a wide variety of interests, ECA has the opportunity to grow and expand in each individual discipline, allowing artists to have a one-stop solution for all their studio and live audio needs.

Since the company's conception, Tyler has wanted to be able to provide top-notch service to anyone, and not have to turn clients away, for any reason. Being a part of creative projects, and helping others to see their creations become reality will always be the focus. Music will always remain something that needs to be shared with the world to be appreciated, and ECA wants nothing more than keep sharing the music!

The idea for ECA came to mind as submissions for a final assignment were due. The task was simple: develop a business idea that you would potentially like to pursue, and show us how you would achieve it.

With this brief, Tyler created the skeleton for ECA, and learned valuable lessons on how the business would need to work to be successful.

Largely scaled-down from the original plan, ECA now stands as an accessible audio solution for most anyone, as well as a way for Tyler to continue with passion projects and personal portfolio work.
The History
Tyler's introduction to sound was through recordings of music that he made for friends, while studying music in the early years after high school. Some of those recordings became some of the singles listed on this website, while others unfortunately never got released to the world.

After two years of music study, Tyler decided on another two years of study at Damelin in Kwazulu-Natal, in their Diploma in Sound Technology course. During this course, he gained experience with more recording, and worked part time at The Barnyard Theatre at Suncoast Casino. Here was where the love for live sound was strengthened.

After moving across the country, Tyler decided not to finish the third year of the course, but to instead hop to a new one, at the newly opened Abbey Road Institute in Johannesburg, hosted at Mastermax Studios. The name alone was enough to make this an easy decision. The time at ARI sparked a love for studio recording that rivalled anything Tyler had experienced before. Lead by great tutors, this became a new area of focus.

After graduation, Tyler got the opportunity to work at the very same studio, as a technician. Maintaining working order at a commercial studio taught him many skills, including soldering, trouble-shooting, and inter-personal skills with clients.
Throughout the time at the studio, Tyler maintained his love for live sound on the side, doing many live shows, learning the art of live streaming and broadcast audio, and even worked on a couple of advertisements as a boom operator and recordist.

Today, Tyler is a very well-rounded engineer with skills and experience in every major field of the audio and entertainment industry. ECA is a means to keep learning, find new challenges, and build relationships with others who share the same passion for all things loud!

The Service

Tyler continues to pursue any avenue of audio that becomes available. Lately, ECA has started to offer Dolby Atmos mixes as part of its catalogue, as the technology becomes more mainstream.

Most recordings are done in conjunction with the studio where Tyler continues to work, and offers clients a chance to work in a world-renowned space, and to record as a whole band. Lately, with help from friends, ECA has been able to do smaller scale recordings at musicians' houses, and practice rooms, making the need to travel to studio unnecessary.

On the live side, ECA has gear to accommodate any small band performance, even offering recordings of live performances as a bonus, purely out of enjoyment on Tyler's behalf. The same gear can be used for live streaming or broadcast purposes, as well as events and functions of a corporate variety.

ECA doesn't just handle the technical aspects, and when possible, Tyler loves to create sounds and atmospheres for film projects and video games alike. Taking part in game jams and short films with friends has given invaluable experience, and a desire to explore this industry further.

For those with the need, Tyler enjoys designing studio plans, including patch-bay layouts, custom cabling, and choosing gear for the space. This hobby has helped with ECA's own inventory and means that any special gear requirements can be solved.
