MASTERING
Get your tracks mastered today!
Mastering is a very misunderstood facet of the music production industry. Too often, engineers are asked to "mix and master" a song, with many clients never understanding what they are asking for.

Mastering is commonly referred to as the final step in the music creation process, where the quality is optimized and the track is prepared for distribution. But how is this achieved? What is the point? Why can't this be done in the mix?

Mastering originated in the days of tape, where the mastering engineer's job was primarily to transfer recordings from tape onto vinyl records. This was a very specialized task, as there was no ability to undo mistakes.
It would be important for all tracks on an album to adhere to the same volumes, and frequency responses, as a drastic change could cause a needle to jump from the vinyl. This, and many other details, made the mastering engineer a very important part of the process.

Nowadays, with digital distribution, and no physical means of playback, it can be confusing to decide if this should still be necessary?

Well, we believe that it absolutely is! Mastering allows for an extra set of ears, with a fresh perspective, and can help iron out anything keeping your track from sounding radio ready, as well as getting it up to a competitive volume.
Singles
Mastering singles is usually a quality control check, and will include some minor tweaks to the tracks. Minor compression, EQ, and limiting that will make every detail in your song pop!

EP's and Albums
When mastering multiple tracks, the intricacies of mastering become more clear. Now, it isn't just about adding finishing touches. While we still follow the same working procedures, there is an added focus placed on cross-referencing each track with one-another to ensure a cohesive sound across the album.
